2016 Holiday Beer Cocktails

Posted December 21, 2016 | 12:05 am, by Mirella

It has become a Beerology tradition to share a beer cocktail recipe for the holidays. This year, I had the opportunity to learn from a range of mixologists and participate in Tales of the Cocktail which has greatly improved my beer cocktail skills. Have a taste and see what you think! Frutta Cake Ingredients: 15ml (1/2oz) Strega liqueur 7ml (1/4oz) Hennesy VS Cognac 15ml (1/2oz) POM Pomegranate Juice 30ml (1oz) Porter (I used Clifford Porter) Garnish: Orange peel Preparation Chill a small, stemmed glass Combine all ingredients […]

My Favourite Mulled Beer Recipe

Posted December 2, 2014 | 6:16 pm, by Mirella

I was chatting with Mutsumi Takahashi on CTV Montréal News today and mentioned my favourite mulled beer; it’s a traditional wassail recipe called lambswool. This mulled beer is made using baked apples that not only fall apart to look like lambswool when cooked but are also delicious! I thought I’d take a moment to share the recipe with you. It’s great for holiday entertaining; with winter fast approaching…what better way to warm up than with a piping hot mulled beer? This recipe is a […]

The holidays are fast approaching and so I thought it might be fun to share the recipe for one of my festive beer cocktails with you, since the traditional “beer nog” recipe that I posted last year was such a hit! This cocktail is actually more of a beer float. It was inspired by an online article I that read two years ago about the fact that it is impossible to make a beer cocktail with eggnog. The unfortunate truth is […]

Beer Cocktails, Anyone?

Posted May 8, 2012 | 1:31 am, by Mirella

The current issue of Food&Drink Magazine contains three tasty beer cocktails recipes that I formulated for the spring (p.53). Beer cocktails are a hot trend and I was delighted to have an opportunity to share a few recipes. Ontario residents can pick up a free copy of Food&Drink at their local LCBO. I thought I’d celebrate the occasion by sharing another one of my beer cocktail recipes online: Moustache 4.5 oz King Brewery Vienna Lager 1/4oz Crown Royal Rye Whisky 1/4oz Martini Rosso […]

A Holiday Treat!

Posted December 11, 2011 | 2:00 pm, by Mirella

Beer Nog (a.k.a. Royal Posset) A fun treat to share over the Holiday Season… I was researching a holiday beer ideas CBC radio segment last year and came across this delicious recipe for Royal Posset. Posset is a warm drink and it is thought to have been the pre-decessor to Egg Nog. It can be made with either beer or wine but because the recipe originated in Britain, many people theorize that Posset would originally have been made with beer… As part of […]
