2016 Holiday Beer Cocktails
Posted December 21, 2016 | 12:05 am, by Mirella
It has become a Beerology tradition to share a beer cocktail recipe for the holidays.
This year, I had the opportunity to learn from a range of mixologists and participate in Tales of the Cocktail which has greatly improved my beer cocktail skills. Have a taste and see what you think!
Frutta Cake
Ingredients:
15ml (1/2oz) Strega liqueur
7ml (1/4oz) Hennesy VS Cognac
15ml (1/2oz) POM Pomegranate Juice
30ml (1oz) Porter (I used Clifford Porter)
Garnish: Orange peel
Preparation
- Chill a small, stemmed glass
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Fill with ice cubes and stir.
- Strain into the chilled glass
- Garnish with an orange peel
I gave myself the challenge of creating cocktails that reflect my heritage. I am half Italian, half French-Canadian, so I made the first cocktail with an Italian saffron liqueur called Strega and the second with Sortilège maple whisky, from Québec.
Winter Spell
Ingredients:
15ml (1/2oz) Sortilèges Malpe Whisky
15ml (1/2oz) Triple Sec
44ml (11/2oz) US style IPA (I used Nickel Brook Headstock)
Garnish: Cinnamon stick
Preparation
- Build in a small glass
- Add the cinnamon stick and use it to give the cocktail a quick stir
- Note: this cocktail is served at room temperature
Happy Holidays!!

Thanks for those recipes, they were total blockbusters on my Christmas party! And still they are very relevant during the winter season 🙂 Yum, yum!

Frutta Cake looks amazing, and I think it’s because there’s a bit of cognac in there. I will make this at home when my project is finished. I’ll invite my friends over to have a taste of this cake. I hope they enjoy it.
